From the Commander
As promised, at this month’s general membership meeting I outlined our goals for 2024-2025. These are binned into three lines of effort (LOE), Leadership and Vision, Team-Building, and Culture and Traditions. Almost everything we do this year as a post will be aligned to one of these LOEs.

The ALA has graciously volunteered to take lead on our joint participation in the Louisville Labor Day parade. We will have more information about the parade at the next general membership meeting.

Understanding VA Survivors benefits and best practices for avoiding posthumous scams
When a Veteran passes away, it can be a difficult time. VA understands and is here to help with navigating through challenges.
VA honors the sacrifices of service members’ and Veterans’ dependents and survivors through many benefit programs, which may be available to a surviving spouse, dependent children and/or parents. Read more here.

Upcoming Events
Red, White, and Blue Bingo (July 20, 2024): Red, White, and Blue bingo will be held on Saturday, July 20th, at Post 111. Sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 111, doors open at noon and bingo begins at 1. The Post fills up quickly for these big events so come early to enjoy lunch! Field Kitchen 111 will be serving hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers! In addition to bingo, there will be raffles and silent auction items. All proceeds support Veterans and Children and Family programs and Community events. This event is open to the public.
Sons of the American Legion Meeting (August 7, 2024): There will be a Sons of the American Legion Meeting at 6:00 PM at the post.
Auxiliary Unit 111 Meeting (August 10, 2024): There will be an Auxiliary Unit 111 Meeting at 9:30 AM at the post.
General Membership Meeting (August 13, 2024): There will be a General Membership Meeting at 6:00 PM at the post. The lounge will be closed during this meeting. If you'd like to join the meeting via Zoom, please notify the Executive Board by noon, August 12th.
Bingo (Every Monday Night): Join us for bingo, every Monday night starting at 6:30 PM. All proceeds support Veterans and Veterans' Programs.
