Memorial Day

Members of Walter Rhoades American Legion Post 111, Sons of the American Legion, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 111 conducted a ceremony at the Louisville, Colorado cemetery to honor and remember the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice and died fighting for our freedom. The ceremony included a wreath laying, recitation of the poem Flanders Fields, a three volley salute, and the playing of taps. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, and Daughter’s of the American Revolution were also represented.

A second ceremony was held on a bridge over Coal Creek where a wreath was laid to honor those lost at sea.

As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation.
